We have over 40 volunteers doing all kinds of jobs to keep our co-op going.

In 2019, Sharon Green became our first employee as Purchaser and Store Manager. Sharon has a strong background in business, running her own bulk bin store for many years. She oversees everything and everyone in the store. Very health-conscious, she works hard to bring in products that follow our mandate of healthy, organic, GMO-free, affordable, ethically-sourced products, as local as possible. She is constantly on the hunt for the best deals, the best quality and the best prices while juggling aspects of our mandate, like: “Do I get the BC kale in February at a higher price than the kale from Mexico? Is this red palm oil sustainably sourced?” The linchpin of our co-op, she not only cares about the workings of our store but everyone who comes through our door.
Samira Beahm is our 3/4 time staff member, who, as our Local Liaison, is responsible for all produce and bringing in the healthiest, freshest fruits and veggies possible. With a strong background in finance and various positions in the grocery industry, and a work ethic that is lazer-beam focused, she has been a huge recent addition to our team.
Nan Love lovingly oversees and prepares our produce for display. Her meticulous efforts makes for appreciative, local consumers. She also makes sure that nothing goes to waste – if it’s not perfect, it’s discounted. If it’s very sad, it’s offered to volunteers as compost or chicken feed.
Denise Moffat, long-time Lumby resident is our newest employee as Head Cashier. She volunteered as a cashier several years ago and never forgot the experience! So, when we were hiring in late summer of 2024, she jumped at the chance to interview. With her warm can-do attitude, she makes everyone feel welcome in our store.
Ross works at the store part time and volunteers on Thursday. He’s a receiver, clerk, cashier, data processor, packager and maintenance man.
